THE STORY OF WIZZY’S WORDS BOOK OF #rhymes | NOW INCLUDING AEL #freeresources

ALL ABOUT THE LANGUAGE AND DEVELOPMENT GAP – A 5-minute read

Wizzy’s Words and Wizzy’s Words AEL (Active Early Learning) | A Social not-for-profit venture | For infants 0-5+

A research-based book of 70 rhymes for early learning with links to developmental milestones and #EYFS goals

Plus, the development of 5 sets of #freeresources to support early learning using universally validated words and actions

For #parentstobe #parents #childcareproviders #teachers #senteachers

1. Why did I do it?

As an infant teacher I saw too many children enter school without the vocabulary or learning readiness for success

2. What did I do about it?

I changed from full time teaching to supply assignments and started to #research the language gap and it deleterious effects

3. What did I find?

That despite nursery rhymes being universally validated, practical and accessible #earlylearning resources they are not being exploited to their full.  Traditional #nursery rhymes being seen as old-fashioned and un-educational and parent and practitioner confidence were among the reasons that nursery rhymes are being neglected and more challenging ones are not being used to ensure ongoing learning and developmental progress.

4. What did I do with my findings?

I developed and produced a set of rhymes with the oral vocabulary for success and incorporated them into Wizzy’s Words book of rhymes.  Then I completed further research…

5. Why the need for further research?

The work and feedback from a range of educational practitioners with experience of typical and less typical development highlighted the benefits of twinning words and actions for whole brain and body development.

6. Where to next?

The development of Wizzy’s Words AEL (Active Early Learning) #freeresources An opportunity to provide parents, childcare providers and early year’s practitioners with a resource for today to promote equity of learning for ALL of our infants today.
